tontau ONE – The flexible retrofit solution for intelligent irrigation
Tontau ONE is the ideal choice for anyone who wants to sustainably retrofit their existing beds. Thanks to its modular design, you can use it individually or combine it with other tontau ONEs and tontau TWO elements. The T-pieces included in the pack of 10 also enable effortless series connection. You can also order the T-pieces as accessories.

Notes
-
Hose on Nozzles
When attaching the hose to the nozzles, twist the hose instead of pressing it on.
-
Cold vs. Warm Hose
A warmed hose is more elastic, making application easier. Place it in warm water or in direct sunlight before application.
-
Brittle & old hoses
Sometimes old hoses can cause a stiff system and breakage. Ensure hoses are elastic.
-
Clamp Position
Make sure the hose clamps are placed correctly. Place them only at the widest parts of the nozzles, not in between.
-
Fixing the Hose Clamps
Apply force gently. When using an electric drill, use the lowest torque setting.
-
Fix in Final Position
Secure the clamps and the system in place. Avoid moving fixed systems around, as the levered forces on the nozzles could otherwise lead to breakage.
-
Ceramics
Please handle your tontaus gently. Although they are designed for gardening, they are still made of ceramic and can break easily if not handled carefully.
-
Leaks
Sometimes, hoses do not seal properly. In these cases, you can use sealing tape or hemp on the nozzles.

FAQ
What makes tontau different from other irrigation systems?
tontau works completely without electricity and without water pressure - thanks to natural capillary action. In contrast to electronic systems or drip irrigation, tontau works sustainably, requires little maintenance and adapts flexibly to your beds.
How much water can I save with tontau?
With tontau you can reduce water consumption by up to 70%. Thanks to the targeted, needs-based water delivery directly to the roots, not a drop is wasted - ideal for sustainable garden irrigation.
Can I also retrofit tontau into existing beds?
Yes! tontau ONE is perfect for retrofitting as it is inserted vertically into the ground. Installation is quick and easy - without disturbing plants.
How deep do I have to bury tontau?
We recommend a depth of at least 10cm for the tontau TWO. But that depends entirely on how deep your plants are rooted. It is important that your system is well covered with soil so that no water is wasted. With tontau you are flexible: You can lay the system both horizontally (tontau TWO) for long-term projects and vertically (tontau ONE) - depending on how deep you want to irrigate.
Do I need running water or pressure?
No. tontau works without pressure. You can easily connect the system to a rain barrel- just turn on the tap and let the water “stand”
How durable is the tontau irrigation system?
tontau is made of high quality fired clay that is sturdy and durable. The material releases water reliably for years without becoming clogged or wearing out. To ensure you enjoy it for a long time, we recommend a little maintenance once a year. Rinse once and brush off your tonaus.
